History of Quincy Catholic Academy

Quincy Catholic Academy boasts a strong and reputable past.

The Academy itself is only 13 years old, but its roots run much deeper. In 2010, the RCAB/Catholic Schools Office, made the decision to officially merge three Parish Catholic Schools in Quincy to form one large school, which came to be known as Quincy Catholic Academy.

The faculty, staff and families of Saint Mary’s School in West Quincy, Saint Ann’s School in Wollaston and Sacred Heart School in North Quincy combined forces to form the Academy. Based on the size, location and solid infrastructure of the campus building, Sacred Heart School was determined to be the best site for the new school.

Over the next several months, the move was made, hiring the Academy’s first principal, finding the best qualified teachers and staff, combining resources from all three schools, and guiding families through the transition, the new adventure began and Quincy Catholic Academy was born.

Over the next 12 years, the school grew in size and strength. As a result of its commitment to academic excellence in a faith-based, nurturing environment, the Academy gained a reputation as one of the best and most positive elementary schools in the South Shore. Solid programs in the Fine Arts, Athletics and multiculturalism solidified the school’s notability as “a hidden gem”.

In 2022, Principal Paul Kelly, assumed the reins as the head-of-school after the retirement of its founding principal, Ms. Catherine Cameron. Future goals for the school include a re-imagined vision for the Middle School, increased enrollment in the Early Childhood Program, the addition of a new Director of Institutional Advancement to support the enrollment growth and marketing efforts of the school and several capital improvement facilities plans.

Partnership with the Divine Mercy Collaborative Parishes has been an ongoing source of support over the years, with unwavering assistance from the pastors, Father John O’Brien and current pastor, Father Lou Palmieri. With the dedicated staff at the heart of the school Quincy Catholic Academy promises to remain a premier academic institution for hundreds of amazing students and families.
